Brad Hetland

1980-1998

This plaque adorns the ticket booth at the entrance to Bismarck's Municipal Ballpark. The ticket booth and entrance to the ballpark were dedicated in memory of Brad Hetland during the 2005 American Legion baseball season.

Brad Hetland was a participant in the Bismarck American Legion Baseball Program with the Scarlets in 1996 and the Governors during the 1997 and 1998 seasons.

Brad understood the true meaning and values of being part of a team. He understood his role on the team and cheered on his teammates while patiently awaiting his chance to contribute on the field.

Whatever physical skills were lacking, he made up for with hard work during the off-season and the regular season. He had a true passion for  being as good as he could be. He would never settle for less than what he was capable of doing.

It is these qualities that will be the standard for the Bismarck Governors annual BRAD HETLAND MEMORIAL AWARD. The award will be given each season to a player, voted on by the team, and approved by the coaches, who best exhibits the positive qualities Brad always brought to the team.
